A tent, not a wall
Khaima is the Arabic word for tent, a place that welcomes and where stories are told. KHAIMA Reports does verification journalism on Western Sahara, the Maghreb and human rights.
Why we exist
Western Sahara is rarely discussed, and often badly: as a diplomatic “issue”, not as a people. We start from documents, data and people, and explain calmly what is usually dismissed in a single line. We write for those who want to understand, not for those who have already made up their minds.
Who writes
Mohamed Dihani is a Sahrawi journalist and researcher, a refugee in Italy. He founded KHAIMA Reports in 2025 and signs its articles. He writes in Italian and Arabic and works on Western Sahara, Morocco, human rights and international law.
What we publish
- Dossiers: long investigations, documented source by source, updated when new facts emerge.
- Explainers: how power, the economy and the law work, without taking anything for granted.
- Analysis and opinion: always signed and labelled as such.
- News, stories, fact-checks and interviews.
- A map and a timeline of Western Sahara in which every point and every date has a source.
All in three languages: Italian, English and Spanish.
How we are funded
KHAIMA Reports has no advertising, uses no tracking tools and currently receives no funding. It is volunteer work. If support arrives in the future, it will be declared on this page.
